I've just got hold of Blu-ray versions of Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and 2nd Gig.

As expected they look good but not mind blowing. I love the fact you can see the fact that Bebop is old school cel animation with a smattering of digital effects but, as with GitS, the CG bits look quite soft as they weren't rendered in 1080P.

Where did you get them from? :-) UK release of bebop is July. As for gits would like to replace my dvd collection.

Aku no Hana - after ep5 I broke and had to read the manga, and I'm glad I did as its really good. As looking at what as been covered so far they won't finish act1 in 13eps(so far 5eps to cover 7 issues, and act1 is 30+ issues), and reading how broken all 3 of them end up is pretty fascinating.

          Shingeki no Kyoji episode 5

          WTF! this is good

It sure is.. I trying to wait out for ep6 and watch it and ep 5 together (from knowing what's going to happen in from the manga), must last till sunday!

also eva 3.33. I just don't understand the reasons for not even mentioning what happened in the 14 years between 2.22 and 3.33. The film felt like a damned mess for trying to figure out reasons behind everyone's actions from a the result of that I can only think there going for a "feel like Shinji" of making the viewer and shinji confused and bewildered as ****.

Shinji we hate you, Shinji don't get in the eva, Shinji get in the eva, shinji the spears, no not spears, spears, BANG!" and they really wasted MK6 to.

Ooh, didn't know Evangelion 3.33 was out! Something to watch tonight then...

Wow, that was visually stunning but as you said, I have no idea what actually happened! It's almost as if Misato could have resolved everything by just having a chat with Shinji!

It does seem a little harsh that all the 'adults' in the film can't take 30 seconds to tell Shinji what is happening, why he isn't liked atm and what he can do to make up for his mistake (whatever it is he has done wrong in the first palce).

Still, I do like the original direction the film took with the world and characters. If Kara are going to finish this differently, it better be worth my time and dedication.

Fingers crossed for an awesome 4th and final film.

Blazblue anime is in development. Is anyone remotely surprised? Still, good to see an ASW get some further love and fngers crossed it ends up a decent adaptation of the exisitng material.

Shinkai latest hit bluray this week, Garden of Words.

As expect its total scenery porn everywhere for the whole 45 min it runs, the story is a lot simpler than his previous works and not quite as pretty as 5cm per second but that did have the luxury of different locations and time. Story is a teenager infatuated with a older women, the characters are likable and reasons just about plausible.. and as you know with all Shinkai's stories

it had me going all the way to the end with the evitable separation/growing up, teasing it all the way in the last 1/4, but the last scene put the smile back on my face, with the letter from her, and him wanting to go see her again (when he's joined the adult world)

Naruto film 6 - not much to say other than the selling point of the film (the reverse personalities) feature little and mainly focused on Naruto and Sakura swapping there character backgrounds, the fights where pretty crap even for a film entry.. could have easily done with more rowdy Hinata. Avoid.

been watching attack on titan pretty good series and i have not watched a anime in a long time

                        Comment

Attack on Titan lead a pretty strong season for spring, and we have the 1st wave of summer hitting in a week or 2.

As for Titan they do seem to be holding back the budget the last 2 episode, which is fine for what was 3 talking episodes in a row.. kinder boring for me as I know what's going to happen so the tension been spoiled, still reading the manga first time around had me hooked and i'm sure anyone watching thresh would be to.

As far as the other shows at the mid point and finish for the short seasoned shows, Chihayafuru S2 been as proven to be the standout show for me, all that building up and knocking down the characters in S1 and some of S2 just made the tension of the finals gripping with the team battle not going in a direction I thought they'd take, but hot damn the ending for that was fantastic.

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru - with one episode left has surprised me with its content, I was fully expecting a Toradora style mini Harem comedy, what I got was social commentary from a social outsider who every now and then becomes theme from Nolan's Batman films (if that makes any sense). Shame they cut a lot of side content (pretty much everything with sensei) to make it fit into 12eps+1 original ending as it could have been even better.

YUYUSHIKI also stoodout for me with some very likable characters and some great musings that remind me of the nonsense discussions from Azumanga and Lucky Star.

Still watching Hataraku Marou, Aku no Hana and all 3 mecha shows with MJP is actually getting better each episode, Gargantia keeps pulling out the twists and Valvrave is just a super complete train wreck I can't stop watching.

Also out are Chuunibyou OVA (Christmas theme with some heavy shipping..) and Ghost in the Shell:Arise BDrips... which looks interesting from new approach to the art direction at least.

Been enjoying net ghost PiPoPa, yup it's lighthearted kids anime but I love the art style & the story has been fun so far.

I'm praying hard that in Jan that someone fansubs Youkai watch, that anime Is my most wanted one to see. Hell i'll even make do with the raws if I have to, I really like the idea of it. It has vibes of Gegege no kitarou all over it.

Had to look those up as I hadn't heard of them before, along with lot of none famous/popular stuff before 04 when I got into anime.

Watched GiTS:Arise ep1, setup is it a prequel to section9 forming and the early days of section9, so its pretty much more of the same but they look younger and the art is certainly a different direction from SAC and films, which is fine its it only way I guess for anime made nowadays. The only knock I have against it is the ****ty soundtrack, nothing like the brilliance of SAC music to be found here.

With new stuff about to hit this/next week, im most looking forward to,
