Again a title not developed for the ground up to be VR and where a Flight SIM game these days is a niche title . Maybe if Drake's V, God Of War V, COD, Fifa 20, Last Of Us III, Red Dead 3 are developed for the ground up in VR we might see a change.

...but it Microsoft developing a VR game that's not going to appear on a new Microsoft console. Made me laugh.

I wouldn't class it as a VR game myself and a PC version of a console game getting extras is hardly new.

VR aside, I’m so bummed we aren’t getting Flight Sim on Xbox. I really don’t understand why it’s a PC exclusive, seems ridiculous.

              Oh, it is?!

I just googled it, and I had that wrong...looks like it's coming first to Windows, but will be coming to Xbox later. Great news. I'm really looking forward to that.

I just meant that the hype was focused on heavily promoted FMV titles like Sewer Shark. My main point is that the MCD was very underwhelming to most people, simply because it wasn't doing anything amazing. But PSVR with games like Astro Bot is quite amazing and will always be remembered as something special. I don't think many people look back on the Mega CD and see it as a "wow" moment in gaming.

I know all about the MCD and appreciate that it actually has some decent games, but it didn't bring anything truly amazing/special to the table back in the day.

So with all of that in mind -- I don't think it's fair to equate the PSVR to being something like the Mega CD when it comes to significance. PSVR is far more significant than Sega's underwhelming piece of hardware that most gamers of the time understandably avoided. Any gamer who has experienced Astro Bot will probably say it will go down as a groundbreaking title in the history of gaming. No Mega CD games have that kind of status/significance.

I'll never forget how astonishing Astro Bot was the first time I played it.

Yea, FS 2020 is due for both Xbox One and PC.

Tbf I don't think this sort of flight sim hasn't been done on console. The PC community spends thousands on setups and third-party add-ons. This is a game that really needs specialised controllers. However maybe like the recently popular Euro/American Truck Sims and Train Sims games they can find a way to open up the game not just in terms of accessibility but also the design. Going to be interesting to watch.

I'll never forget how incredible Astro Bot felt last year, Sony convinced me that VR has something fresh to bring to the table. It's far from perfect tech though, but I can imagine how much VR will advance over the next 20 years.

I'm glad you convinced me that Astro Bot was an amazing game, because I wasn't too keen on embracing VR before that.
Astro Bot stands up there with Mario Odyssey as this Gens greatest platformers.

I’m sure they can adapt it to pad. I’m not totally averse to buying one of those HOTAS things either. I’ve never played a flight sim. I just really like the idea and look of it, it’s great they’ve brought the franchise back.

With an answer like that , I'm also willing to bet you never owned a Mega CD . I was always amazed at the gfx in Batman Returns and For me Sonic CD was the best 2D Sonic and Rise if the Dragon, Lunar 1 and 2 some of the best games I have ever played .

Sony VR is for me like the Mega CD , the odd amazing game every so often, but for most of the time I play the base unit .

VR is like Kinect or Wii motion controls... only much better... but infinitely less popular. Astrobot always feels like a Tearaway moment as well, Tearaway was bloody good fun and made excellent use of the Vita's features but ended up standing alongside few other titles that did the same and ended getting drowned out by the niche appeal of the host hardware. At least fans look likely to get at least one more entry before VR attention drifts fully away given the reception the first attracted and the need to try and push PSVR2.

At this rate there won’t be a PSVR2 and Sony making one will be a total waste of money.

I'm sure they can. It needs that anyone can pick up and play, i.e. in the way Forza can drive itself. But I also hope it has a structure built in and it isn't just a sandbox. So things to do within the Sim. I think that is what the likes of Train and Truck Sim have done so well.

If you feel that games like Batman Returns and Sonic CD were groundbreaking "wow" moments in gaming history, I think that would be a unusual point of view.

PSVR with Astro Bot feels truly cutting edge and quite incredible. I just can't see how you can justify putting MCD Batman Returns in the same category. As much as I can appreciate that the driving sections in Batman Returns were something special, it's not like they felt like something truly astonishing. I think they were simply impressive next to how racing games tended to look on 16-bit consoles.

Even if Astro Bot were the only AAA PSVR game, it would go down in the history books as a groundbreaking, brilliant creation that's In the same league as Mario 64 when it comes to significance.

I thought the Mega CD was a cool piece of kit back in the day, but certainly not groundbreaking, or particularly special. There were a few reasonably impressive games, but I can't think of any that would have made most gamers say "wow."

I appreciate that you're really fond of the Mega CD, but I just can't agree that PSVR and what it has brought to the table can be compared to what Sega delivered with their CD add-on for the Mega Drive.

I've had quite a few "wow" moments in my gaming life, with Astro Bot being one that I will cherish, not just because it's a great game, but also because it showed me how incredible VR can be. I really wish I could look back at the Mega CD and say it had given me at least one "wow" moment.
