"Sony’s first foray into the home console market burst onto the scene in 1994 and in doing so redefined our understanding of what a games console could do. Now, thanks to GeeksLine publishing, you can throw yourself back into one of the most exciting periods in the history of gaming…

The book is a celebration of the formidable 1994 console and an era-defining Brand. While much of the recent momentum behind retro gaming has focused on earlier platforms, The PlayStation Anthology proudly sticks a flag in the ground for the iconic platform of the modern console era: The PlayStation 1.

I already have this- I got a copy from my missus for Christmas- don’t know why it says a pre order.

It’s amazing- it’s a huge tome, and chock full of info and pictures. Details from the inception all the way through to the release of the PS2.

Loads of great stuff like a list of limited editions with pictures, and a list of every release over every region- it’s highly recommended.

Really helpful for collectors too- with the details of the releases with dates over all regions etc.

Be careful as there are two releases, the normal and collectors- the collectors is much more but lots of extra stuff.

Looks interesting, I'd particularly like to see the design process behind the awful original PlayStation controller.

Looks quite good, but are these books actually well written?

Well this was a kickstarter originally, and was actually done in French, then translated to English. There’s some spelling errors/typos here and there, and a lot of magazine references are talking about French magazines/critics- but on the whole, yes- it’s a good read. Informative without being boring. There’s a lot of info about Nintendo and Sega in there as it really goes into details about the competition and everyone’s strategies with marketing as well as technical.

There’s also and N64 one too.
