I rarely experience this phenomenomenomenon. Not because I was some kind of child gaming connoisseur who only played the very bestTM, but because the games I have the fondest memories of - and like replaying on emulators - are still enjoyable for me now.

But if I play a retro game I never played before, I usually won't enjoy it so much. Maybe the nostalgia is propping everything up!
