can anyone recommend a side scrolling beat em up?

    for latest generation machines?

something along the lines of Final Fight/Double Dragon/Streets Of Rage?

    thanks

Not a joke - but you can get Streets of Rage 2 on most formats now; Steam, PS3, Xbox 360 etc.

Also Guardian Heroes for the 360.

As for PS4/One, someone else will have to come along as I don't own one yet.

Dragon's Crown seems to be quite a popular suggestion. Still haven't booted my copy that I bought on here ages ago mind... >_> lol

I had a few issues with dragons crown which i think some of them may have been fixed by a patch, one was that was easy to loose the character on the screen.

Second i felt the combat could have flowed a lot better as it felt stiff and rigid compared to the awesome muramasa before.

Really not sure what games are out of the modern systems but with the xbox one backward compatibility i am sure Guardian heroes will at some point come out (as i think it was a microsoft financed/co developed game) and i reckon there is a chance double dragon neon may get on the list.

Can list loads on other formats though like Gekido psone /sengoku 3 for the neo geo being some of my favs

Problem with it is that it's not a 'pure' beat em' up since it has RPG elements. It was ok but didn't grip me. Looks great though.

I thought Dragon's crown was excellent but it's not on current gen. PS3 and Vita only.

                    Broforce! More Contra-esque though.

Double Dragon Neon on the 360 was a solid side scroller with great music. Volgarr the Viking is worth a look too, although it's a side scrolling hack n slash platformer rather than a traditional beat em up.
