The Last of Us has a story that is relatively thin compared to the amount of game. The cut scenes are wonderful and the atmosphere is incredible but you can't really discount the gameplay in that one. For me, the gameplay and its lack of integration into the story was a real problem. I felt Uncharted generally did that better.

I'm not discounting the gameplay, merely that a game cannot always be judged by one single factor alone.

If you don't love the story in Last of Us, it just becomes another well made if slightly formulaic action game.

I did like the story. It's a simple story and Joel was far from smart but I would happily watch it as a movie or would love a more Telltale type game of it where the story was the focus. I felt the gameplay worked against it.

... and that's about it? FFXIV is mostly to blame, as even though 'finishing' the story content didn't take too long, the end goal is a moveable feast and has cost me many hundreds of hours.

Sadly mediocre at best. It didn't look terrible in terms of structure but it was so grey! And the music was weak. Overall plot and characters were OK but the whole thing felt so bland.

Pity. V doesn't seem much better.

Glad I skipped it then. They should've just stuck with 2D graphics if you ask me.

Which reminds me, the loading screen of Suikoden IV was actually the best part of the game... lol
