You in I.T? What do you then?

Thought it would be interesting (or not very) to see which forumites are in IT and what roles you perform. Might be good from a techy support type o' thing.

For instance.. I'm currently rolling out 5000 thin client devices on Citrix 6.5 using a published desktop and Microsoft App-v. I also have loads of Vmware experience and have been supporting Windows since 3.51/NT4.

    You? YOU?

Are you including software engineering under the IT banner?

I understood the Citrix part of what you said!

I'm currently producing a C++ library for processing Finite State Automata and another one for automatic generation of UML Object Sequence Diagrams from running code. I also write preprocessors and parsers for reverse engineering source code. I enjoy walks in the park etc.

I'm a web developer, working on a new version of our company website that allows customers to sign in and check statements / quotes / etc. from our in branch systems. I write a lot of PHP and SQL at the moment but starting to dabble with objective-C too.

Mainly non-techy stuff now. Financial management, compliance and some PM.

                  How's that going for you?

We're not rolling it out just yet, only where needed by the customer or in new projects.

It was going well until we found this issue the other day

Hoping Microsoft come out with a patch quickly or we're going to be busy in a few weeks

I get my hands dirty as a user support specialist. Look after a branch site and its users and beyond. IPT, switch remediation etc etc.

I work in QA, so I spend most of my time breaking stuff and telling people what they've done wrong. Most of my interest at work lies in automating tests but I'm not overly fond of pair programming. I'm being increasingly pressed toward development, which is mostly OK but more stressful than what I'm currently doing.

I'm having some fun with a QA tester at the moment for our citrix published desktop build. He's incredibly thorough (or anal) and keeps pulling things out of the bag that only a seasoned windows user/geek would do and that I've forgotten to close down.

Good stuff though. Have you done anything with Loadrunner/HP Quality Center?
