Much prefer these type of old school shooters over the bullet hell stuff.

A lot of the later game is somewhat bullet hell-ish, even worse actually as the swarms have no set pattern.

Yeah, it is a trend and not one I particularly enjoy as I still like the Parodius style of light hearted play.
