New C class is definitely a better looker than its previous iteration. New A class is a massive leap over its previous models.

It's my own. Prob HP but can spend a fair bit on deposit so looking for a decent motor to replace an aging mini.

Boring I know, but if you don't do a lot of miles I'd recommend buying a car outright so you aren't in debt. How much deposit do you have?

I spent ?4k on my Impreza in 2007 with 100k miles on the clock. Since then, not including insurance or fuel, but including everything else (tyres, MOT, servicing, new parts, upgrades!), I've spent 9k (1.5k per year). It's still going strong at 140k miles, although I've only put 40k miles on it (7k miles per year?). I have ragged it sensless though.

Got to agree with Charles, taking out a loan on something that loses value as quickly as a car isn't ideal unless it's the only option.

Wish I could remember where I read about a guy who ran a Ferrari on ?2,500 a year (plus fuel and insurance) now I've seen your post above Charles.

Just watched those videos, scary stuff but that's the trust we leave with these people I suppose. I wouldn't return your car there Marty.

Reminds me of the days at MCN when we used to mark engine covers and the like on bikes to check dealerships had done their jobs properly.

I've never taken any of my vehicles to a main dealer, even when I had a new Kawasaki. Just used local specialists. Cheaper and better. And the warranty is still valid if official parts are used along the way during warranty period. I have a general garage around the corner that is good for normal stuff (cam belt etc.) and a couple of specialist go-tos (performance car place and another place which are a bunch of track nuts, both places love cars and all employees have their own little projects on the go)

                Thanks Charles

I have discovered there is a VW specialist near here, might go and see if they offer that service, as opposed to a pre fab chip.

Coolo. And if they can't remap the original ECU, then if you are going through all the bother of getting a chip fitted, why not spend a little extra and get a proper chip that can be remapped. Then you might even have the option of switching between ECO and GO modes

Got the VW yesterday and cannot get the wife's iPhone to sync with the Bluetooth. Has anyone else had this problem?

Which head unit is in your car?

RNS 510. Would that be the model number?

Yes. Silly question but is the car equipped with the Bluetooth module? It's not standard with that head unit.

It is yes. I've been googling and it seems it's an Apple issue. What a nuisance.

My Impreza is getting old now (2006 model) and it's starting to need things done to it so I'm going to buy a new car mid next year. I'm really in the mood for a hot hatch such as the Ford Fiestsa ST. The only problem is that all hot hatches are from Europe and since i live in Japan they cost a lot of money over here plus getting them serviced isn't that cheap or easy. I could go with the new Golf GTi but to be honest it looks as exciting as dish water IMO but at least they are officially on sale in Japan and there is a dealer near my home but again prices are stupidly high.

So, since the price of fuel keeps rising I was looking towards that Toyota Aqua. Now, the Aqua in the west has the awful stigma of being called a Prius something or other YUCK! Also the bog standard Aqua is a bit dull but now Toyota’s tuning division have released the Aqua G (the highest spec Aqua) G's edition. Not only is it more powerful, stiffer and sporty than the standard car, it also looks pretty good IMO. What do you guys think? I'm still in two minds about it but I am seriously thinking. The thing is I love manual and since this is a hybrid it's bloody automatic. Has anyone gone from manual to automatic and regretted it?

That is awful, buy a proper car (or spend money on the one you've got?).
