Elegantly, my reply fits in this thread. Vbulletin gets a bit slow with large threads and since they are the popular ones, whenever anyone posts in one, lots of people jump on it and it can go into an exponential death spiral of doom, unable to server anyone pages. The solutions are more power servers or prevent it happening in the first place. I'm going for the latter for now.

Makes sense. You know when you open a thread and it says "Results 11 to 12 of 12" as it does above... that's not having to run the search function every time someone opens a thread, is it? Or is that normal? I don't remember it always calling them results, but maybe I just wasn't paying attention.
