Even though minecraft would bore me to tears whilst taking over my life, I think it's awesome that a "game" that lets you build virtual lego sets has overtaken a game about shooting people in the face.

Yeah it is nice to see something totally the opposite become more popular but i too would find it a tiresome waste of my time. When i was younger i used to spend hrs playing Harvest Moon, but at least it had its own quirky kinda charm. Why not play with err, well, lego? It would be more fun actually

Why the negativity? Exploring, digging dungeons and building things is really fun, especially in multiplayer.

@ Eddie, you could apply the same argument to a lot of games though e.g. why play Fifa when you can go outside and pla footy for real.

The message for this thread is that non-violent game is briefly more popular than a violent game. You see plenty of headlines about the dangers of training terrorist youths on Call of Duty, so this is the opposite.

Like i said i would get no pleasure myself from playing it (mind you, i get no pleasure from playing COD after a few months ), but it is good to see something non violent taking over. It would be nice to see the main newspapers mention this as a story, but i guess its not sensational for them & they don't want to be seen as wrong after all that scare mongering now do they

I haven't got into Minecraft much myself but I love watching stuff on you tube about it. Glad to see it doing so well.

I was skeptical at first when i learned about minecraft as i just thought it was some casual shite. Then i learned how complex it can actually get it's very deceptive, it totally won me over.

I love playing as it really is only limited by your imagination, just creating things is really satisfying. Nice to see it do well, now if only the tekkit mods would come to 360. Been able to craft complex technology is really cool. I want my own nuclear reactor

I thought Minecraft was just some weird facebook esque casual fad and/or PC gamers fapping over something that was exclusive to them.

Turns out I was the fool for not trying it, tis brilliant.
