Super Monkey Ball Banana Splitz (PS Vita) review

Been dying for this to come out and my copy arrived today courtesy of Shopto. Only £13.85 too which was a great price

Ok very early impressions as I only tried Monkey Target and the main game.

Very glad to see Monkey Target in this. No needless Vita tilt controls either, it plays just like it did on the Gamecube with the left analogue stick controlling your ball. Really this mode was probably worth 14 quid alone besides the fact its online mult playable. Only thing I will say is its got the worst water effects I have seen since the 16 bit days. I wasnt even sure the weirdly animated blobby surface was meant to be liquid till I plopped in it and saw the worst animated splash in gaming history. Its so comical its worth crashing just to see how bad it is.

I started on beginner mode on the main game and finished the beginner levels in what felt like 10 minutes. Lots of barriers on edges which I wasnt expecting after the outcry on the 3DS version. I figured they were just for beginner mode but starting on normal levels there are also lots of barriers there too, mainly on corners. I am hoping they will gradually get reduced so us Monkey Ball veterans will have a real chalenge.

All in all a great colourfull return to form for MB at nearly pocket money price. Well done Sega

Give me a shout when it comes Edd and will hook up for some monkey target. Target was my ultimate party game and got friends who hadn't played games in years to buy a GC years before the Wii fad. Closing your ball and dive bombing the bullseye became a mark of honour Monkey Bowling is dodgy though on Vita. Disappointed they had to incorporate tilt on that. But like I say I love monkey target so much this game can do no wrong cos they kept controls the same as the original

Played a bit of this morning - as OP I've played through the Beginner levels and so far I think its a great version of the game, espeically for the price.

Monkey Target is great, despite the water effects (they really have to be seen to be believed ). Bowling isn't too bad once you get ed to it but would have preferred the original controls.

Amazon are currently selling it for £12.99 - if you liked the Gamecube versions and have a Vita then it's definitely worth a purchase at that price.

Thought I was so clever preordering this months ago for £14.99 from Zavvi. Then it ended up being £12.99 on Amazon and £13.80 at Shopto, lol!!

Mine's waiting at home. Can't wait to play it, the Jap demo back in the summer was wicked (shame the UK version won't let you roll around on a lady's tits). Can anyone who's got it confirm that it has ad hoc multiplayer? As that's important to me
