Your top five cel-shaded games

I don't know why, but I really love cel-shaded games. I don't really like this modern type of cel shading, where you barely tell, because they've added too much detail, or it looks like a regular game that's been glazed in something. I like the older, bolder ones on the PS1, but sadly there weren't that many. Anyway, I'd like some suggestions of what games to be looknig out for (hopefully some that aren't on the wikipedia list). Here's mine:

Fear Effect
XIII
Wind Waker
Red Steel 2

Wasn't there a cel shaded Macross game? I don't think I ever played it myself. I love the effect but can only remember a few titles I liked overall, as games.

I can't recall many but fear effect 1 and 2 as well as borderlands would be on my list.

Dragon Quest VIII.
Fear Effect.

As for others, XIII was just ok and I can't seem to get into Okami. Wind Waker is my least favourite game in the Zelda franchise though not because of the visuals.

Crimson Tears on the PS2 is a pretty decent game. That's the one that springs to find for me outside of the JSR games.

Hmm, i'm not sure Fear Effect is actually cel shaded come to think of it.

I think it has graphic comic style textures, but no outlines or actual cel shading.

Borderlands is the same, but it has a shader that puts outlines around things, like XIII.


Killer 7 is the most recent example of true cell shading I can think of.

There was Robotech: Battlecry on GC/PS2/Xbox and quite fun overall. GC > PS2 of course, and yes I had both.

That, Wind Waker, XIII, and Gotcha Force for me.
