Game and Gamestation to be given exciting new name

They have decided to call all the shops the same thing, so they have gone with.... GAME.

Makes sense seeing as it's all owned by the same people now and might leave room for another retailer to attempt to hit the high street. One that just sells new items and doesn't smell would be nice.

I think the smell is a clever policy like how supermarkets pump out the smell of baking bread, The smell of of pungent stale bo has been proven by games internal scientist to loosen the wallets of gamers by a factor of up to 90% and at high doses is capable of knocking out people so they can try and hard sell you console bundels .

Haven't they gone under yet? The GAME and Gamestation where I live always have more staff than customers on the at-best-twice-annual visits I give them. They're gonna need to start using new prices rather than a new (old) name.

I wonder how the XP card will go now...does GAME have a similar system anyway?

might use up the £10 I have incase they ruin it.

Well they shut down most of the Gamestations didn't they? The awesome Brighton one went as did the Woking and Worthing ones, fortunately I used the last £2 or so I had on the XP card on Monday when I was in Reading...

In Birmingham we still have 3 GS and only 1 Game (I think) I have only made 3 purchases from GAME in my life, original Xbox as only they had any, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg on GC as only they had it and a Dual Shock 3 as only they had any. I spot a theme.

Always had a complete aversion to GAME for some reason even though it was the same company as GS so will probably use the nearby Blockbuster. Seeing as Blockbuster actually have slightly better prices these days on most games it will be a good idea anyway!

The closures themselves were pretty irratating, they closed down
4 of 5 stores in Sheffield, meaning they didn't have a store in the town centre. You had to drive 6 miles to Meadowhall, or go to HMV

I remember when Game opened up first in Dublin, it was a gorgeous store. Two floors (two and a half, really), really clean, kind of purply velvety, all arranged really nicely and, yes, all new product. A Megadrive hooked in to a huge plasma screen running the likes of Ecco.

Then EB merged with Game and they visually became much more like EB, that store closed and they all seemed to go bargain basement. I wish we had a classy game shop back.
