    The New US Top 10:
    http://www.imdb.com/boxoffice/

    1 21 Jump Street (2012) $35M $35M
    2 Dr. Seuss' The Lorax (2012) $22.8Microsoft? Corporation158M
    3 John Carter (2012) $13.5M $53.2M
    4 Project X (2012) $4M $48.1M
    5 A Thousand Words (2012) $3.75M $12.1M
    6 Act of Valor (2012) $3.68M $62.4M
    7 Safe House (2012) $2.76M $120M
    8 Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012) $2.46M $95.1M
    9 Casa de mi Padre (2012) $2.2M $2.2M
    10 This Means War (2012) $2.12M $50.5M

The main stories this week are 21 Jump Street which has opened strong enough that Sony has already commissioned a script for a sequel and John Carter which is crashing harder than previous flops Prince of Persia and 10,000BC. It's international figures remain okay so it might recover a fair chunk of its whopping budget but overall a poor performance.

Its such a shame about John Carter.

Brilliant film and deserves a sequel. People are fools.

They are indeed fools, but the film is ****. I urge everyone here to save their money, or just download it illegally if you'd rather waste your time instead. I wish more stuff would flop to be honest.

Has anyone seen Hunger Games yet? Everything I've read in reviews has said it's alright in a 'not as good as the Battle Royale it blatantly steals from' kind of way. Either way, expect lots of merchandise and maybe a lawsuit to follow as it's opened BIG. $155 million in its opening weekend in the US and the third biggest opening of all time behind only the last Harry Potter and Dark Knight.

Yeah I saw it, I would really compare it to Battle Royal at all, yeah it has kids killing each other and trying to survive but that's as far as it goes. It reminded me very much of that Charlie Brooker Black Mirror thing from not long ago.
The competition part of it makes up less than half the film
I really enjoyed it, one of the best films I've seen In a long time.

All I keep hearing is how great it is, the 'next Twilight' connotations the media keep using had put me off but I'm thinking it's going to have to be watched now
