Get a life: Wife walks out over husband's gaming addiction
A 51-year-old father's addiction to the game "Second Life" where players create a virtual world online has been blamed for his divorce after 11 years of marriage.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was spending up to 25 hours a week playing "Second Life" online when his 33-year-old wife walked out, a court has heard.
The father of three was also addicted to watching pornography on his computer, the Federal Magistrate's Court has heard.
The mother was awarded sole custody of the children, according to the court's ruling on November 2.
Second Life was created in 2003 and allows players to use avatars to talk to each other, and generally socialise.
Those who pay a fee can own land in the virtual world and can trade like in the real world.
It's believed to be one of the first - if not the first time - Second Life has been cited in a divorce case.
