• EA, Xbox Support and the £37,000,000 DLC

One of Bordersdown's old writers, Marty, has hit a snag in system. This glitch in the matrix shows just how frustrating and limited the current setup for codes and DLC and online passes really is when it comes to getting support. What seems like a simple problem has just created slopey shoulders and everyone's time wasted. In fact it has probably cost EA and MS vastly more in time to listen and ignore the problem than it would have to just say "Hey, we'll fix this for you!"

So, he bought a new sealed game and for some reason the online pass has been removed from Xbox Live, even though online is still active for a while yet. So if you've already used the pass in the past, you can download it again easily, but if you are a new customer, you aren't allowed to use the online component code that comes in the box. Well, you are, but it will cost you £37,000,000+ which even for gaming obsessives is an unusually large amount of cash and probably not worth it.

Read all about the ongoing saga here to see if it ever gets resolved.

      You've played 166H 33M of Battlefield 3!
You also voted it one of your top games of this generation.
      You've bought DLC for it!

It's not about me or you, but trying to educate you on the serious challenges and under-hand tactics and policies that microsoft and most of the big publishers are doing to our hobby, but i guess you can't see sense that the original article has merit and the guy deserves what he paid for, shame on you mouthpiece.

      Hypocrite.

I'd rather be a mouthpiece than an arsepiece!

Anyway, I'll forgive you hypocrisy, you are probably drunk again.

I suggested that, but Misterbubbles refused to stay in a Premier Inn because they advertise £29 rooms and you can never get one!

I do actually agree with bubbles. Action is required though. No good just saying it, actually stop buying games by companies whose practices you disagree with.

And i haven't bougt an EA game in over say 6 months and won't be doing it, as ive stated before thats why im not buying crysis 3 or DS3 and will still pick up the games i like which are published by EA second hand that way i still get to enjoy the games. So im sticking to my guns, Touche !

I've bought lots, even bought the latest map pack for Battlefield 3, so I'm an advert of my own futility I pretend in my mind that I'm supporting DiCE though. But this is a Microsoft issue - EA have said they've not removed the content and that it should be available.

At this point it's not even about the online pass - it's more the principle that this content is quietly being removed whilst still being happy to sell these games as new and complete.

The support from folks on the net has been fantastic - so thanks for that. We can beat "The Man" and get Microsoft to #dothetherightthing.

Great Marty, i was just trying to get EB to see that sometimes these huge corporations do pretty stupid stuff, sometimes they do and make good stuff. But the main point is that us as consumers and for our hobby is that we stick together and voice our concerns when these companies do something wrong.

I want sim city and dragon age 3 but will do without them.

If mgs5 has day one dlc I'll quit gaming as I'll see that as a sign that it's the end of days :-)
