    Socom cheats

Fire International Ltd, the self proclaimed "specialists in game enhancement software and peripherals for the interactive entertainment industry", have today proudly announced that they have developed the first ever Online Cheats for the PS2 Network Gaming launch title SOCOM:US Navy Seals.

    From todays press release:

"Prior to the launch of the game, Fire International's dedicated cheat domain, Xploder.net, went live with the first cheat code for the title which enables unlimited ammunition and now boasts cheat codes for No Recoil, Rapid Fire, Unlimited Grenades and a code which allows the player to steal their opponents ammunition!

With the competition shying away from providing online cheats, Xploder is the one and only option for gamers who wish crack ALL their games wide open. The Xploder total cheating system once again blazes a trail and leaves the competition in its wake!"

It's interesting that the first PS2 online title to suffer at the hands of the cheats is essentially a Counter Strike 'em up (CS being the online game to cheat in on the PC), what will be even more interesting is how Sony will choose to deal with this issue.

Can they detect the cheat systems attached to their trusty PS2's and if so can they / will they choose to kick the offending lamer off the network?

Online cheating has been the scourge of PC gaming online for a good few years now, it would be a shame to see the noble PS2 fall down the same dark hole.

Read about this this morning and I am really disappointed in it.

What's more disheartening is Fire's self-congratulatory approach to the whole issue. Whilst provide cheat functions for single player games is agreeable with myself (I don't use them but if people want to use them for their own gaming experiences then that is their perogative, it doesn't affect me in the slightest).

However, if I was to buy an online title such as SOCOM for ?50 I'd be mightily pissed off if the experience was ruined by a bunch of people that feel the need to be seen as great players so much, that they will use such cheats as a means to an end.

Agreed. They make it sound as if they're providing a valuable service rather than spoiling peoples' games.

I have to admit that cheating is one of the reasons I'm shying away from online gaming - hopefully Sony will be able to do something about this.

I hope Sony put them out of business... somehow.

Wasn't it the Xploder crowd that ruined PSO as well? Man, online gaming would be great, if people weren't so crap

Why dammit. Why would people want to cheat online. theres no point, no skill. The people who create these cheats are in the words of alan partridge 'Scum, Sub human scum'. Not to mention the weak pathetic excuses for human beings that cheat online.
It just makes my blood boil ft:

Play a good game online = healthy competition, fun

Pay a good game online with cheats = game ruined, no fun anymore, what's the point??

What is wrong with these people, don't they get it???

I am amazed when these morons come online, 'bigging it up' about how they are cheating this way or that, all proud of themselves. The sad fact is that they do actually 'enjoy' ruining other peoples enjoyment of the game.
What a mentality that is, most sad

I hope that they can get this pinned down soon on the console, it killed online gaming for me on the PC (oh, and I did not want to keep upgrading my PC).

I was hoping the consoles, would be a cheat free, cheap alternative, and mostly they have been. I have really enjoyed playing online console games since Novemeber but cheating is starting to manifest itself more and more often, what a horrible shame ft:

                    I can't believe this!

What is the world coming to when it's 'ok' to cheat?

I can't stand it and I hope Sony do something about it. Still haven't got my Socom disc through from them yet either and when I do finally get it, I don't wanna go into a game full of cheating twats.

Is there the option to set up your own game and password protect it in the full version?
If so, maybe we have to start our own league to keep cheaters out. Then we could enjoy the game without the 'scum' getting in.

If not, then this games is fooked unless Sony can detect and kick out the slags using cheats.
