hello,
i've tried to connect my ntsc gamecube to my pc monitor using various adapters; my gamecube component cable, an ati component female -> dvi male adapter(specifically designed for use with radeon pro 9600), a dvi female -> vga male adapter, and finally a vga female -> vga female adapter.
Unfortunatly, the final result was a picture that was very green-ish,as if all colours not specifically red or blue were green. Otherwise the picture was crystal sharp.
Anybody know what the source of the problem might be?

The fact you are trying to input component into RGB.

They 2 different formats.

Just buy a VGA cable or mod the component cable you have already.

You wont be able to modify your component cable to output VGA, you need to get hold of the Gamecube D Terminal cable. The D Terminal has (as well as the R G and B lines) 3 extra wires which can be used as you like for the H and V sync. If you use a component cable for the mod you'll have to add an extra two wires somehow and that's long.

(and I aint doing them anymore cos Play Asia arent marking down my parcels and I get taxed to hell)

cheers for the answers,

The dvi male -> component female gave a great progressive scan/ hdtv signal from my pc to my tv, so I can't understand why it won't work the other way round?
it's this one :

I thought the adapter did the conversion of the signal..?

Ah well, worth a try. :D

No the converter combines the sync signals onto the Y (green) and it tells the card to output YUV rather than RGB.
The cube needs a modified cable to output RGB.

that could explain the green colour effect. :)
seems as i would have to take the plunge and buy one of them £50+ vga cables then.

cheers

Search back a couple of days on the classified section, there was one for sale.
