How do they do it? Its well into the 7th series, and its still as sharp, funny and downright brilliant as ever. I thought that after all these years it would either of lost its way, be finished or Id simply of gotton tired of it but when it still produces classic episodes like the below its no surprise to see the show still going strong. I wonder how long Matt and Tre will decide to keep it rolling, on current showings I hope as long as possible.

South Park Is Gay

Queer Eye for the Straight guy has turned all the men in South Park into Metrosexuals, men who arent gay but act like they are. Cue hilarious scenes with My Garrison trying to get various men to come home with him for a "good time" with him and Mr Slave, and not understanding his brush off because the men arent really gay, just acting. The guys take over the shopping malls looking for the latest designer fashions, pissing the women off which is where things start going badly wrong. Seeing the kids turn metreosexual is so funny.

Fat Butt And Pancake Head

One of the all time classics, so amusing I was almost crying! Its Latino week in SP, where the kids put on a show to celebrate Latino culture. Stan thinks hes onto a winner with his brilliant presentation, until Cartman turns up with none other than.... Jennifer Lopez! Well, almost, more a crudly drawn face on a hand that he mimes along to and calls J-Lo. Not content with winning the competition Cartman takes J-Lo shopping and there she sees a recording booth and records her own song Taco Flavoured Kisses - this gets picked up on by the music industry bigwigs, and Jennifer Lopez is on her (its, whatever) way to stardom.. of course there isnt room on this planet for two J-Los, and so one of them has to go... A brilliant episode, just watch it!

"oh si si si he so handsome"

that episode is the best!

Another of my favs is when they find out earth is nothing more than a reality tv show for the rest of the universe. its the first show where they put species from all different planets (such as jews, zebras, asians etc) and put them all together on the same planet...and you never know it might be true.

I agree on what you said. Its been 7 series, over 100 episodes and its still as funny and controversial as it ever was.

Also I watched a feature about southpark on vh1 the other day. Didnt realise it only takes about 5 days to make an episode compared to the simpsons which takes nearly a year.

Phil.

That episode was Cancelled, another great one :)

Have you seen the latest - where Cartman desperatly wants to go to Casa Bonita - his favourite place in the whole world - Kyles birthday is coming up and for a present his mother gives him tickets for him to take three friends along there. Unfortunatly for Cartman, he decided to take Butters as Cartman is always such an asshole to him (Cartman to Kyle - "When have I ever made fun of you for being a Jew?"). This pisses Cartman off, who decides to kidnap Butters by hiding him away, telling him that a metiroite has hit Earth and wiped out the whole world, which has been overrun by zombies, just so he can go instead. Freindship and loyalty at their most cruellest here, its actually quite hard to watch as Butters gets taken more and more in becuase of his extreme gullable nature.

Maybe you need the XVid codec. Right click/Properties on the file, it may well tell you the codec you need there. Its a great episode btw, and very topical :)

If you guys want the latest SP episodes, I suggest you go to www.lando.co.uk

They only have the latest 2 episodes up at a time, but they get them real fast after the US airing, and the d/l speeds are really good.

I'm getting Sky installed today...or Friday (don't ask), so which channel and when is South Park on?

And also, why did they only release up to series 4 on DVD and stop? In the USA, they're only getting series 3 and 4 on DVD now!

thanks ;)

Its on Sky at the moment and also Channel 4.

The box set thing is very annoying, I want all of these on DVD, despite the AVIs I have being of high quality. Ive got all the box sets so far and want to complete my collection, then have one big South Park weekender

Weinberg
01-12-2003, 02:31 PM
Yeah i've been watching on Channel 4, however they stupidly put it really late. No doubt less people watch and C4 assume it's not popular and won't show the next series.

It is a brilliant show though. I actually met the creators in Hollywood in August and got them to sign a poster for me, which is now framed :D

The Space Cowboy

The Simpsons? Futurama? Family Guy?

Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb!

South park is easily the best animated show next to beavis and butthead ;p Its also easily one of the best TV shows. Almost every single episode from Cartman gets an anal probe to the truth about Mormons I have been floored with laughter/shock but most times both, each time.

How the hell do they manage it? And how do they get away with the subjects the touch on? ;p

TV show DVDs are a pain in the arse. I got 1-4 so far with 5 being due early 04 and I canneh bloody wait ;p

Fifth series of the hit show and the South Park boys are showing no signs of going soft. No taboo left untouched, this is as brilliantly sick and satirical as ever.

No better words describe it tbh ;D

Smart smart smart smart smart!

Why? Watching Cartman singing Christian rock songs in episode 709.

By far the funniest thing Ive seen in ages.

Seeing as how they wont release these on DVD I think Ill make up my own instead. Dependant on how it goes, I may or may not have a DVD with every episode from the 7th series on it shortly for people interested. Possibly. Im getting 712 now, I assume thats about the last episode.

Ive yet to watch that one, I will do later on though. Did you see "Raisens"? Another good one, Butters must be one of SPs strongest charecters.

Pirotic
21-12-2003, 02:10 PM
I agree - Butters is one of the sweetest characters. Raisins was a cool episode, i burst out in laughter when it 'clicked' why the place was called Raisins (if you dont get it, look up 'hooters' in google)

the newest episode is out, Christmas in Canada - its a rather weak ending to the season but it has a surprise ending which is very up to date, they must of only of made the episode a few weeks ago.

(i wont ruin it, but its worth getting just for that ending)

My only complaint about the series is they didnt feature enough of Jimmy and Timmy - my two favorite characters.

The Space Cowboy
21-12-2003, 02:13 PM
Aye raisens is good best bit tho-

Typing it wouldnt do it justice ;p (http://www.southparkstudios.com/down/download.html?file=/media/sounds/714/STANSAYSYOURA.wav)

Jimmy pwns ;p

DaveW
21-12-2003, 03:49 PM
Do they have Hooters restaurants in the UK now? Thats what Raisens was a parody of.

The South Park episode that made the character of Cartman for me was "Scott Tenorman Must Die". If you don't remember it, its the one when Scott (the older kid) keeps tricking Cartman into buy his pubes. Cartman plots a really evil revenge at the end. Its my all time favorite episode.

The latest episode was good too. Saddam is back - "hey relax fella, im not Saddam", "GET HIM", "hey wait, I wish to negotiate".

marcus
21-12-2003, 03:58 PM
STMD was brilliant, talk about revenge

FFS!! They take a few weeks to make the episodes...I bought a DVD player when The Matrix was released and bought SP season 4 then. When was that, late 1999? Perhaps 2000? And the SP set had probably been out a while. So 4-5 years later, they STILL haven't released series 5 on DVD?! Did you all know though, that very surprisingly, although we got series 3 and 4 yonks ago on DVD, America only got them a few months ago in December 2003 :o

Really taking far too long though. Can anyone burn series 5-whatever series it is now onto a DVD? I'll pay you well!

Gotta say, that after the brilliant opening episode, episode 2 and 3 were in comparison really poor. The Jesus one wasnt funny at all, whilst the retard one was a little too close to the bone for my liking.

Thankfully the 4th episode is a lot better, the dance off competition against OC state kids was quite amusing. Looks like Ep 5 is out now too, with any luck Ill check it out today.

OT - can you think of any charecter in cartoon history who has worse things happen to him than Butters? Hes constantly picked on, and yet is the nicest charecter imagineable. That poor kid suffers week in week out...

JRMacumber

I thought the Special Olypics episode was hysterical. I'm not a big believer in Hell, but if anyone deserves to go there and run it, it's Cartman. That fat little **** is evil...

marcus
09-04-2004, 10:55 AM
Aye, totally. I just found that one a little too hard to watch, Cartman pretending to be a retard was probably for me the lowest its ever gone, to the point where it wasnt that funny. Timmy and Jimmy are two of my favourite charecters in it though that said, especially Jimmy.

Remember the one where Jimmy sang the "12 days of christmas"? :D

JRMacumber
09-04-2004, 12:15 PM
Had it been anyone other than Cartman, I might have blanched, but with him I just can't take it seriously enough to get offended over it. The kid is vileness made flesh, with darkest evil in his veins. Therefore, I laugh. I just can't help it.

Hmm another poor episode "something Wall Mart this way comes", which makes two in a row. Thankfully "Pre-School" is back on form again, the kids get payback from a hardassed bully whom they stitched up back at pre-school. Seeing the kids as 4 year olds STILL going on about the same things they do now (Cartman to Kyle - "shut up you stupid Jew") was just too funny - and thankfully it had the severely distasteful parts which make SP so great that was missing from the last two.

Episode 9.1 - Mr Garrison's New Vagina.

I wouldn't say it was a classic episode, but it had its moments towards the end.

Mr Garrison's testicles exploding after having been used to make Kylie taller by implanting them into his knees. Typical South Park gore ensues. I thought the Mrs. Garrison not being able to bleed through her snatch, get pregnant and have an abortion was pretty weak though

I enjoyed it, it made me laugh out loud a few times but mainly at the very british sense of humour it showed in places... "Who wants to plough my vag?? GIRL POWER!!!" and "What kind of woman can't bleed out of her snatch once a month..." being the funniest bits for me...

Episode 4 of season 9.

This episode worked on so many levels - taking the piss out of the PSP, Lord of the Rings, Life Support, even the odd Star Wars reference.

Definitely the best of the series so far - and beware PSP owners - don't get to level 60.

I just watched the PSP episode, and thought South Park has kinda sold out really. Sure it was super funny, but they mentioned Sony PSP like 100 times, and saying it was literally 'made by god' - hmmm... would have worked just as well if it was a made up console. Still, could have been worse... i was expecting them to say the DS was made by the devil :)

they've done that before though, with the DC, only Nintendo were stupid enough to refuse the free publicity, Okama Gamesphere and all. God forbid someone outside their core audience would even hear about the GC :(

It was a class episode, even though you know they've been blatantly paid (or told by the networks) to pimp the PSP out. As in5ane pointed out - the amount of times they actually say it's name during the episode was amazing.

However, they are taking the piss out of the hype accompanying the machine. Anyone find it amusing how in heaven while Kenny is controlling the gold PSP, one of the angels there is commenting on how it's better than Return of the King and how he's missing out on all the action?

With the way Sony have hyped the PSP, you'd think you could control the world or involve yourself in full scale film CGI battles. ;)

I thought the Lord of the Rings joke about the battle being so great was just a joke about the camera actually not seeing it, nothing more.

Personally, I thought it was a reference to George Lucas' and Sony's claims about what the PS2 could do before launch.

The whole 'created by God' thing was clearly laying into the hype-machine.

That was the same as the ep before where they kept blatantly mentioning the "SEGA DREAMCAST" throughout the show, Ive not seen the one you mention yet but it sounds really similar. They made it pretty obvious that they were pimping it :)

You kiddin about 9x05? Best South Park I've seen in AGES. Me and a mate were in stitches, mainly at the Randy stuff.

Every time he took his shirt off, we cracked up : "What you wann do?" so funny.

Season 9 had been a major let down until this episode, about time they had a new episode that actually made me laugh out loud!

I never know what to think about South Park, there's some really funny episodes (the ones where they're at the ski resort, Big Gay Al getting kicked out of the scouts and being replaced by a pedophile) and then there's ones that just seem really painful and unfunny like the PSP one with the Terry Schiavo spoof. I cringed when the guy said something like "You are the master of all PSPs"...

That's pretty much what I read, he tried to sell Comedy Central the idea of Nutty the Friendly Dump for years and then they come out with that... pretty suspicious.

The reasons they gave as well also sounded a bit improvised. "Trey Parker had a Mr. Hanky character his father actually created for him when he was being potty trained 26 years ago." It sort of seems to play on the old cliche of "say it's something from your childhood and they won't argue".

I think in the end though, he just had to settle for the idea that "you can't copyright a dump"...

As soon as I knew it was going to be a Randy based episode, I knew it would be fantastic, Randy is one of the best characters in southpark. Loved the karate Kid music thrown over it, especialy at the end where Randy starts singing it while throwing the final punches. Fantastic episode, not hillarious, but an all around brilliant episode.

I don't know i'm starting to lose confidence in Trey and Matt. I didn't find the baseball episode funny at all. Stretching out one or two unfunny jokes into an entire episode (or movie with Team America) and bringing in their political opinions so often does not entertain me. I want Cartman being awful, Butters being adorable and Chef giving the children advise like the South Park of old :(

Lyris
08-04-2005, 08:52 PM
I agree with them bringing in their opinions thing... South Park I feel can get a bit preachy, especially towards the end of episodes where the characters all exclaim that they've learned a lesson and they'll never do something/treat someone badly again.

Speaking of other Trey-n-Matt stuff, did anyone ever see That's My Bush? I saw a couple of episodes (think it got canceled after about 11?) and it seemed quite funny at least just for the novelty value. If you never saw or heard of it, it's a sitcom set in the White House with pretty convincing looking actors playing George Bush Jr and co.

Ive watched the first three from series 9 and think its definitly the weakest of all series' so far. Whereas S8 was 90% brilliant, inventive and sharp, the episodes "Wing", "Die Hippie Die" and "Garrisons Vagina" seemed to be devoid of any real humerous moments. Ive got 4 more to watch still, but hope things pick up from here, as its been a real disappointment so far.

Thats one of the things I like about SP, is despite it being totally off the wall, crazy and vulgar, most episodes have a meaning to the madness. Whether it be the immigration problem addressed by "Goobacks", or the alternative viewpoint towards the rainforest in one of my favourite episodes, "Rainforest Schmainforest" (sp) for example, it uses humour to get messages across extremely well. Some issues are surprisingly current as well.

Those ones were fantastic, Season 8 was one of the best for me. Sadly S9 hasnt been anywhere near as funny imo. S8 bust me up all the time, I loved the first episode 'cancelled' where it turned out that Earth was just an intergalactic reality show which was due to be cancelled after people of earth found out the bigger picture.

I forget the title but the other one I loved was where a kid the SP crew grasped up on in kindergarton which led to the death of their teacher finally was free from jail, and he hadnt forgot and went after the SP kids. I think Cartman took a photo of his butt, drew a couple of nipples on it, and passed it off to the bigger kids as his mommas tits, who took it into the bushes for a w@nk. Not to mention the titty-twisters and noogies dished out by the vengeful hardarsed kid.

MTV on sunday showed one funny as hell episode of South Park, where they all go to some town auction and all the kids buy weapons, then when they're playing with them they do some role play and then the show goes all anime/gamer and they're recreated as characters that look all to familiar from games :p Then they had a proper cheesy J-POP style tune, it cracked me up. Santa. Satan. I guess they must have remade it.

That documentary last night was quite revealing. It was obviously class the way they ended the first part of a series with the cliff hanger of "Who is Cartman's Farther, find out in four weeks time" and then not revealing it. Apparently this totally pissed of the fans of the show who forced them to hurry out the conclusion earlier than they were planning - while still sticking two fingers up by making it Cartman's Mother.

Totally genius.

IIRC The Jesus V Santa one is where they are sat singing songs, Santa starts singing an Xmas song, then jesus sings a Jesus song.

it goes on for a bit, but Santa runs out of Xmas songs so starts singing Rio by Duran Duran.
Jesus Stops him and Santa storms off

"Aww come on Santa, come back"
"no, F*ck you Jesus. Theres like 5000 Jesus songs but only 12 Christmas Carols" - I ****ing cried with laughter at that line

South park is the best show ever created.

My Favourite episode is Fourth Grade where they get Miss Chokesodik for the first time and they all want to go back in time to 3rd grade.
Funinest bit is when they all decide to show the teacher whos boss and pull a moony at her.
It gets to 8:35 and Cartman gives this little laugh and jumps on his desk and shouts "suck my balls" and is the only one to do it.
Thing is, it happens like 3-4 times througout the episode and he;s the only one that does it. Had me crying with laughter. just that little laugh he does is enough to set me off http://ntsc-uk.domino.org/images/smilie/biggrin.gif

They were good in the one in S9 called 'Eric Cartman Dies' where everyone decides to totally ignore Cartman, who end up thinking hes a dead spirit that only Butters (the only person who isnt ignoring Cartman) can see :)

What cracks me up is how in one ep Cartman is in Butters house whilst Butters was out, he called up his parents and called them all sorta things, course when Butters gets home and his furious parents arrive soon afterwards he gets uber-beatings.

Well I liked it simply due to the scientology content although the downside to that was that they played a lot of it more straight than they normally would. I get the impression though that a large chunk of the episode was a direct communication to scientologists rather than their usual audience.

Given the lawsuit history, I thought it was brave of them to air that.

It's the actual Travolta impression that made me giggle the most ("Tom, it's John Travolta... You just gotta come out of the closet oh mah gad!"). A friend commented that it almost sounds as if Parker is doing a take on Bobcat Goldtwait for the voice.

I can't believe how the SP guys keep managing to make the program consistently funny. The Christmas episode kept up the good quality of the current series with the Woodland Critter Christmas episode, which was bloody fantastic!

Ive said it before, but one thing I love about SP is theres always a message.

The episode in S9 'Two days before the day after tomorrow' where a town had been flooded after Kyle and Cartman ran a speedboat into the Beaver dam, what got me is where rather than send aid out to help the stricken people, all the officials cared about was who is to blame - once blame can be determined, then the rescue missions would commence. Oh how true to life this show can be :)

Not everyone gets South Park, it takes a certain type of sense of humour. You're right. When it first started, I thought it was trendy trash. The first series was pretty weak but then it gradually transformed into the monstrously anarchic beast it is these days. Sad to see that Chef has gone but he's a Scientologist anyway. George Clinton could easily replace him.

"South Park" co-creator Matt Stone responded sharply in an interview with The Associated Press Monday, saying, "This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology... He has no problem — and he's cashed plenty of checks — with our show making fun of Christians."

Stone told The AP he and co-creator Trey Parker "never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."

This one isn't going to go away. How long before South Park satirises Haye's hypocritical position within the show?

So it's okay to make fun of everyone else's religion, but Hayes' own?

Posted on the SP site... says it all really.

This has nothing to do with intolerance and bigotry and everything to do with the fact that Isaac Hayes is a Scientologist and that we recently featured Scientology in an episode of 'South Park.' In ten years and over 150 episodes of 'South Park,' Isaac never had a problem with the show making fun of Christians, Muslims, Mormons and Jews. He got a sudden case of religious sensitivity when it was his religion featured on the show. To bring the civil rights struggle into this is just a non-sequiter. Of course we will release Isaac from his contract and we wish him well

Yeh, Jesus is the presenter of a daytime chat show called 'Jesus and Pals', hes kinda like South Parks answer to Jerry Springer.

For a classic SP episode, check out Jesus Vs Satan, where Satan challenges Jesus to a boxing match which is 'Live on Pay-Per-View' :)

I dunno, some of you guys moan about the earlier episodes, for me they are still brilliant.

They are, yes. But after watching the latest episodes theyre very tame (Cartman is nowhere near advanced enough as a character for example).

marcus
15-03-2006, 09:07 AM
I think that they have gotten more political and topical over time and thats the main difference, and early series' were a little more unpredictable and off the wall (for ex, Mecha Striesand, Mexican Staring Frog, Underpants Gnomes etc) but I attribute that to the show 'growing up' in terms of its (im)maturity.

They might be tamer in comparison, but thats not to say episodes from the early seasons were prudish - take for example the cojoined-foetus woman one, still one of the harshest episodes for me (and best).

HE'S BACK!!! CHEF RETURNS TO SOUTH PARK

-------- New Episodes Kick Off With "The Return of Chef!" On Wednesday, March 22 At 10:00 P.M.* --------

New York, March 20, 2006 -- The launch of "South Park's" 10th season is marked by the triumphant homecoming of school chef, Jerome McElroy. "The Return of Chef!," premieres Wednesday, March 22 at 10:00 p.m., only COMEDY CENTRAL.

The town is jolted out of a case of the doldrums when Chef suddenly reappears. While Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman are thrilled to have their old friend back, they notice that something about chef seems different. When Chef's strange behavior starts getting him in trouble, the boys pull out all the stops to save him.

"South Park" will premiere 14 all-new episodes in 2006, with the return of Chef being the first of seven consecutive episodes airing Wednesdays at 10:00 p.m. beginning March 22 and concluding May 3. The remaining seven all-new episodes will begin in October, coinciding with COMEDY CENTRAL's celebration of the Emmy Award-winning series' 10th season.

"South Park" repeats Wednesdays at 12:00 a.m., Thursdays at 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m.; Fridays at 11:30 p.m. and Sundays at 11:00 p.m.

i saw that episode yesterday after a mate told me about it. absolute class. also i thought all that stuff with the caption was a joke and was just laughing at the crazy stuff parker/stone had conjured up and labelled as scientology beliefs, but then i read the wiki :d

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/38/South_Park_Xenu.jpg

the wiki also details the written statement from parker/stone in response to the banning, in a newspaper:

So, Scientology, you may have won THIS battle, but the million-year war for earth has just begun! Temporarily anozinizing our episode will NOT stop us from keeping Thetans forever trapped in your pitiful man-bodies. Curses and drat! You have obstructed us for now, but your feeble bid to save humanity will fail! Hail Xenu!!!" They signed it, "Trey Parker and Matt Stone, servants of the dark lord Xenu."
