It's that time of year, so get yourself over to the website and get your teams registered now! It's free to play! Who said the football would be over when the World Cup finished?
http://fantasy.premierleague.com
If you don't know your football, the system will even select a random team for you if you let it. I'd actually recommend that for now, you can make unlimited changes to your team before the season kicks off and I'm sure there's lots of transfer action still to come. Manchester City are looking to replace at least 35 members of their squad over the next few weeks.
Returning players can use the same log-in details they used last year and I've renewed the NTSC-UK league so if you played last year, you should be able to be automatically re-entered this year. Post team names here though so we know who's who!
New players are of course welcome too, and if you PM me I'll give you the league code so you can join in with us.
Some good advice:
I strongly suggest you take some time to read the rules if you are not familiar with them as there are bits and pieces you need to know if you are looking to compete with people who've played before (deadlines, scoring, formations etc etc). Also, pick your first team wisely - it can be hell if you pick a bad team and have to sub the duds out in the first gameweek!
If anyone needs any help getting started or with the basics, post here or PM me and I or others will be happy to help you out. Don't let a lack of knowledge of football put you off, it's as much a numbers/statistics game as a football one, and the website is excellent for letting you see a player's form, how well they've been doing, etc, without having to watch Match of the Day!
Now, go, get those teams created, and remember, picking Fernando Torres is a terrible idea. He may be popular but his only input into the World Cup was to fall over in one match and then injure himself in another. I wouldn't bother with any of the England squad either, presumably they're all readying their retirements as we speak, shamed out of the Premier League.

RULE CHANGES: Rules look largely the same as last season, but you can now save up transfers, which I believe is new. You get one free transfer a week and if you don't use it, you can make two free transfers the following week. You'll only be able to make a maximum of two a week though, unless you use the wildcard.
There's an extra "wildcard" which lets you make unlimited transfers during a week. This is specifically for weeks 23-27 when snow could screw everything up like it did last year! Encompasses the transfer window, too.

That one was snuck in last season as well, but the rest is new.

Just a week to go now, anyone else playing?
Time to start seriously thinking about your teams, making sure Lampard is your captain, that kind of thing!

Just a bump. If you haven't made a team there's still time so get on it!
Also, can a mod sticky this thread and unstick last years? Cheers

Made a few slightly out there choices this year in my lower order, backing a few of the new boys in the mid table teams that are priced lower than I think they should be to shine.

It's really weird seeing all the real names, have no idea who is who.
Think I'm settled on my team now and I've barely spent any time on it this year! Usually take ages to deliberate over small things, but am happy all things considered. The prices seem stupid, like always. Most new players seem to be overpriced, and the price of defenders has rocketed sky-high.
Good luck people!

Defenders that come up for corners and score often are the players that tend to score the most points in the game after midfielders that get lots of assists. The clean sheet points are less important when picking your defence, you want scorers.

gah first bad decision already.
Picked Hilario on the basis he'd get a couple of games and probably not let any/many in. Turns out Cech's actually fit.

Could be worse, I went for Rob Green today... Doh.

Rob Green - ouch.
I had NZogbia who has decided to throw a strop and wasn't even in the Wigan squad today. Typical.

Drogba as captain though today, redemption!
Btang84
16-08-2010, 02:24 PM
Damn, had 5 players in the Spurs v City game, and got a 0-0! Typical! The live text suggested that Bale was involved in a lot of Spurs play. If only he had a right foot and tucked away that glorious opportunity.
Not a great start at all, but I'm sticking with the bulk of my team. My best player was Alex Baptiste... but he was my third sub... oh dear...
My mate entered a private league where the sign up was £30! The prize money is £400 and he asked me if I wanted in, but £30 is a bit steep for me and I prefer not to resort to second guessing myself every single gameweek when making decisions. No point in taking it that seriously for me.

had a good week thanks to everton.
Incidentally, we're a pretty decent league so far, ranked 14,962 out of 205,169. To put that into perspective: that means we're better than 93% of leagues.

pretty great week for me, such a difference from last season. Picking an attack minded team really makes a difference.
Not going the first month with most players injured also helps
NTSC-UK climbs ever higher up the rankings. Top 3% now!

Yup, yesterday was the perfect time to transfer Berbatov out of my team
I know your pain, I got rid of him last week.
With the United game rescheduled, how exactly does the scoring work? Because the "rules" are unclear.
What happens if a team doesn't play in a Gameweek?
The players will score 0 points in the Gameweek and will play twice in a future Gameweek when the match is re-scheduled. Points are only awarded to teams who have players selected in the Gameweek when the game is actually played, irrespective of if they had them selected for the originally scheduled fixture.
So I have 3 United played. If I don't have them in my team when the game is played, I don't get the points? And that reads like everyone who has them in their teams for that Gameweek will get the points, regardless. ?? :s
toythatkills
04-12-2010, 10:15 PM
You'll get no points this week for any of those players. In a future gameweek, when the United game is rescheduled, those players will all play twice, and therefore score twice.
The trick is to get rid of all your united players this week, and then put them all in before the week when they play twice.
Basically what it's saying is that when Blackpool play United in March or whatever, you won't score points just because you had the United players selected for this week when the game should have been played. You have to have them selected in March.
Crap. Didn't know, didn't do it. Stupid rule, why couldn't the points be added retroactively? :(
Thanks for explaining man.
Flabio
05-12-2010, 10:42 AM
It'd be tricky to have it apply retroactively because the rescheduled game could be next week, or it could be in May. Having to remember who had what players in for every postponed game would be painful.
So yeah, you only score for players that play. At some point in the future we'll have a gameweek where Man U and Blackpool play twice, and in that week you'll want to have your Man U players in.
It's been pretty unusual this year in that we've usually had a couple of teams play twice in a gameweek by now already, but not this season it seems.
Still, Nani out, Nasri in. STITCH THAT. Nyhahaha...
Flabio
04-01-2011, 05:42 PM
Heads Up: Another gameweek starts this evening, you've got till half 7 to sort your team out...

Also, your extra wildcard is playable from 7:30pm today, until February 12th!
Flabio
04-01-2011, 06:07 PM
But probably best saved until after the transfer window shuts, unless someone buys someone awesome early on.
toythatkills
04-01-2011, 06:15 PM
Nah, it wants using right away, probably. There's a gameweek very soon with six teams playing twice that's perfect for it. There's always the second wildcard for after the window closes, if you've still got it!
toythatkills
22-01-2011, 03:45 PM
Used my wild card this morning, and I've got loads of points already this week! Most of my team play twice, too :)
toythatkills
22-01-2011, 05:12 PM
88 points, easily 12 on the way for bonuses later, and my whole team nearly is playing again midweek.
Amazing haul this gameweek!
Flabio
01-02-2011, 08:29 AM
Gameweek deadline is 7:30pm tonight.
So, who still has their second wildcard available? Cause I reckon if some of these transfers play today or tomorrow you're going to want to bring some of them in...
abigsmurf
01-02-2011, 10:13 AM
Still made my side a bit too Chelsea heavy and my 10 place fall from grace is a result of it but hopefully using my wildcards has given me some big point scorers.
