Pokémaniacs will be happy to know that the next generation of Nintendo?s unstoppable monster-battle juggernaut is on the way.Pokémon Black and Pokémon White will be released in Japan this fall for the Nintendo DS. If these games follow Nintendo?s usual schedule, they?ll arrive in the U.S. the following spring.Nintendo says it will reveal more about the games on April 15.Even though these games will surely be launching right around the time the next-generation Nintendo 3DS hits, they are for the current DS platform. Blackand Whiteare the swan song for Nintendo?s cash cow on DS, and the games will likely outsell all the others based on the fact that the DS? userbase will be that much bigger.That said, given the timing and the importance of the series, I would not be shocked to see some sort of Nintendo 3DS bonus features in these games. Whether or not that happens, Nintendo will likely give the 3DS a couple of years before unleashing Pokemon Taupe and Mauve.

I think it's about time the series got an overhaul and reboot really. They can't keep trundling out gameboy era mechanics and contiually increasing complexity by increasing the number of pokemon, types and adding even more obfuscated or hidden stats.

Was kinda hoping they'd release this on the 3DS to give the franchise a shot at a reboot. Enjoyed Pokemon platinum but that's largely because the last pokemon I'd played was Gold so it was a fairly big jump. Think I'd have got bored if I'd played Ruby/Saffire and the remakes.

Would be nice if they could fully utilise the DS this time and make it full 3D (with battle animations) but I'd be amazed if they did.

Official shots released now. Looks same engine again but with more use of the 3D. Slight change in the battle graphics but I'd be surprised if they're fully animated.

Play-Asia.com (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Play-Asiacom/106842498811) just confirmed the region-lock of Pokemon white and black: As expected Pokemon won't run on non-Japanese NDSi and NDSi XL consoles. You need either an old Nintendo DS or a DS lite (the region of the console does not matter), or you need a Japanese Nintendo DSi or Japanese Nintendo DSi LL. If you want to cancel your order please do so quick, as we expect to ship out the vast majority of the preorders on Saturday!Was kinda worried about this being region locked after reading that the games had an enhancement of some sort when played on the DSi, sucks. :mad:

Must admit I'm tempted. But I think, in all honesty, Pokemon has outgrown me (would love to say it's the other way around). It has become too big, too complicated and the 'gotta catch em all' hook seems unachievable for a human being like myself.

It is looking good though and I was reading about it earlier and it seems to have some great ideas. Really like the sound of having seasons.

I'm getting it. The two games have 1 different are within them. Black has a city, White has a forest.

This game looks ace in all honesty - a bunch of us at work are getting it :-)

There were 6 pages of hints in the latest issue of Games Master, which I was looking at earlier this evening. Details of the 8 Gym Leaders. Also mentioned that the only HM's you need to complete the Gyms are (I think) Fly and Surf. No need to saddle Pokemon with Cut etc. Quite a useful little guide. I will no doubt be referring to it quite a bit! Not a spectacular score in the Review Section. It was in the low 80's!

Played Black over lunch - and I'm really, really impressed it actually feels like a NEW GAME rather than a rehash of the last one.

I'm excited and can't wait to get back to it on the train home - the graphics, animation, music - everything about it is ace and FASTER! No longer am I feeling frustrated at the chuggy menus.

I backed up each save and transferred the two other starters to a copy of my Snivy save (as it had 3 other Pokemon), making sure to match the trainer information with the Snivy save so that I don't get boosted Experience from a "traded" Pokemon. I figured this way was easier than trying to trade to one of the earlier games to get the three starters. As usual I forgot how to delete the save and start a New Game.

Now, I have the three starters at Lv 9 and a Lillipup and ...rat, at Lv 4 and Lv 5.

So far it is not that different to other Pokemon games other than a much simplified Pokemon and Poke Ball acquisition. Also getting to a point where you could trade is a lot quicker, certainly than HG and SS.

I presume everyone noticed experience is dependent on the level of your Pokemon compared to your foe.

Did everyone remember to get their Liberty Pass today?

But yep def quicker to get going in game, I got my pass before even setting off! Had not being paying any real attention to XP but all in all I am loving it, just hit the big city after Gym 2.

Pretty much lol, but I expect it is the only way I can compare the three starters. At least I don't get boosted experience as well! I have yet to decide which one I prefer. I will probably have a better idea at the first evolution. I normally seem to go for Fire Pokemon for my starter, though I liked the Chikorita in HG/SS as well. At least I can revert to the relevant single starter save at some point if I want to.

I don't think the game has "grabbed" me yet, but then I have only traversed Route 1 and seen three new Pokemon. I must admit that I still find GT5 something of a draw (especially the Remote Races).

Looks like I will be reverting to my original starter saves for a while as the Pokemon you get in the Dreamyard is dependent on your starter.

I finally managed to get a Purrloin outside of Striaton City. Only Level 4 though. I wondered where you would find them.

To get through the first Gym some grinding looks advisable as my Pokemon are between level 10 and 12. The first few trainers in there are not too much of a problem but the final is dependent on your starter so another level ought to make all the difference. Certainly some new ideas with this game.

Further on than that there are people who give you different items for different starters. Traded my starter with a colleague for his - starting to wish I hadn't!

After beating the 7th gym I thought I'd run through from the start & back.
When I got to the daycare I bred & hatched a few Pansage, and tried one other... Zoroark is breedable :o So even if you missed Celebi you can still get Zorua I now have 6! Probably be getting 8th badge at somepoint Monday evening.

For any Poke-fans out there like me that had left this title gathering dust, you can currently get Arceus from the global link! I haven't tried yet myself as I'm at work but if you log into your global link account and click on the promotions button, then enter the password ARCEUSVOTE, the 'God' pokemon should be available in your dream house to select as a download.
